CEATEC2024 "5G/6G Special Day I" was held from October 16 (Wed.) to 17 (Thu.) at Convention Hall A of Makuhari Messe International Convention Center, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF), Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), and University of Tokyo National University Corporation. The conference was co-hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the XG Mobile Forum (XGMF), the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), and the University of Tokyo.
Three sessions were organized: "International Workshop on 5G Utilization" on the morning of Wednesday, October 16, "Local 5G International Workshop" in the afternoon of the same day, and "5G/6G International Conference" on Thursday, October 17.
Over the two days, 722 people attended on-site and 236 people watched online.

(1) Morning Session: "5G International Workshop
Following opening remarks by Hironobu Yumoto, Director General of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as representative of the co-organizers, XGMF co-chair Hiroyuki Morikawa gave an opening address.
Next, five speakers spoke on the latest trends in 5G industrial applications on land, sea, air, and space.
A panel discussion followed on the theme of "The Latest Trends in Industrial Applications: 5G Communications Expanding Dreams to Land, Sea, Air, and Space," with Mr. Oyama and Mr. Morikawa as moderator and commentator, respectively. After comments from overseas panelists on the characteristics and expectations of the Japanese market, each panelist introduced HAPS, connectivity at construction sites and substations, use cases for drones, connected cars, millimeter wave applications in railroads, etc., and discussed issues, prospects, and expectations in the latest trends. The participants discussed the challenges, prospects, and expectations of the latest trends in each area.

(2) Afternoon Session: "Local 5G International Workshop
Mr. Hiroyuki Ogawa, Director, Mobile Communications Division, Radio Department, Telecommunications Infrastructure Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, opened the session.

Next, six people spoke about the latest trends in local 5G utilization in their respective organizations and fields of activity in Europe, Japan, Taiwan, and the United States.
After the speeches, a panel discussion was held by four speakers from the audience, with Takehiro Nakamura as moderator and Gota Iwanami as commentator.
Under the theme of "Factories and Manufacturing + Global Frontiers of Business Development Challenges," the panelists discussed the status of 5G adoption for the manufacturing industry, awareness of wireless communications on the manufacturing side, development of a set of use cases and applications, and how to work more closely with both the manufacturing industry and The participants discussed ways for closer collaboration between the manufacturing and ICT industries, and agreed that it is important for the XGMF, FFPA, 5G-ACIA, and BA to work together in the future to promote local 5G and millimeter wave.

5G/6G International Conference
Day 2 began with opening remarks by Koichi Takemura, Director General of the International Strategy Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, as representative of the co-hosts, followed by lectures and panel discussions with a view to the realization of 6G. First, five government officials from Brazil, Japan, Korea, and Cambodia gave lectures.
Following the panel discussion, moderated by Akihiro Nakao and panelists representing 6G-related organizations from Europe, the U.S., and Japan, the panel discussed the "XG Cyber Lifeline (Advancing Resilient and Robust Cyber Infrastructure for a Global Digital Future)" to identify global priorities, strengthen international collaboration, and promote international industry-academia partnerships.
