An article by XGMF facilitator Masanobu Fujioka was published in Keitai Watch. The article reflects discussions on how to proceed in the future in the XGMF "Survey on Communication Environment in Areas Attracting Customers" project, and summarizes millimeter wave deployment and implementation in smartphones. We are pleased to announce the release of English version of XGMF White Paper “5G Enhancement with Millimeter Wave Deployment Ver4.0”.

XGMF published English version of this white paper on January 28th, 2025. We hope that it will be used to help dissemination of millimeter wave in both Japan and overseas for building the ecosystem.

Report on CEATEC2024 "5G/6G Special Day I" (documents and video available)

CEATEC2024 "5G/6G Special Day I" was held from October 16 (Wed.) to 17 (Thu.) at Convention Hall A of Makuhari Messe International Convention Center, jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF), Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), and University of Tokyo National University Corporation. The conference was co-hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the XG Mobile Forum (XGMF), the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), and the University of Tokyo. Three sessions were organized: "International Workshop on 5G Utilization" on the morning of Wednesday, October 16, "Local 5G International Workshop" in the afternoon of the same day, and "5G/6G International Conference" on Thursday, October 17.

Participation in 6G Global 2024 (Mobile KOREA 2024)

On October 28-30, 2024, 6G Global 2024 was held in Seoul, Korea, with the participation of the XG Mobile Promotion Forum. 6G Global 2024 was held as part of Mobile KOREA 2024* in Seoul, Korea, and featured in-depth sessions on 6G and panel discussions with industry leaders to discuss the latest innovations and developments shaping next-generation communications technology. Major stakeholders participated (*5G Vertical Summit / Regional Workshop was also held). From Japan, XGMF Co-Chairman Akihiro Nakao introduced Japan and XGMF's initiatives, and NICT's Morio Toyoshima, NTT Docomo's Takehiro Nakamura, and KDDI's Satoshi Konishi took the stage in key sessions.

Participation in 5G TECHRITORY 2024

5G TECHRITORY 2024 was held in Riga, Latvia on October 29-30, 2024, and Mr. Shigeharu Ozaki from Mitsubishi Electric Corporation participated from XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF). 5G TECHRITORY is an international conference held annually since 2018 to promote the 5G ecosystem in Europe, and is backed by the Latvian government, which is making efforts to introduce ICT technologies. From Japan, XGMF's Vertical-related projects and Mitsubishi Electric's R&D efforts were introduced.

Beyond 5G White Paper - Message to the 2030s - Version 4.0 is now available.

The White Paper Subcommittee under the Planning and Strategy Committee of the Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium, which was active until March 2024, conducted a study of Beyond 5G, which is expected to be put into practical use around 2030, assuming a wide range of usage scenarios covering users' daily lives and many industries, Through these studies, we examined the requirements for communication systems as social infrastructures from various perspectives. In addition, based on the utilization scenarios and future technology trends, we examined the key concepts, network requirements, capabilities, architecture, and key technologies for Beyond 5G. Based on these studies, this white paper summarizes issues and expectations for Beyond 5G from various industries, capabilities required for Beyond 5G, and technology trends.

Version 4.0 of the XGMF White Paper "Advanced 5G with Millimeter Wave Penetration" is now available.

The XG Mobile Promotion Forum has released Version 4.0 of the XGMF White Paper "Advancement of 5G through Millimeter Wave Deployment" prepared by the ODAIBA IX Core Project. As one of the main activities of ODAIBA IX Core Millimeter Wave Deployment Promotion, this white paper comprehensively describes information necessary for millimeter wave deployment, including domestic and international deployment status, issues, technologies, use cases, and solutions. We hope that this white paper will be used as an aid in promoting millimeter wave deployment and building an ecosystem in Japan and abroad.

Participation in FFPA and 5G-ACIA Joint Workshop
*Issues and measures to promote the widespread use of wireless technology with 5G/L5G in factories (Part 5)

XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF) participated in the 5th Joint Workshop jointly organized by Flexible Factory Partner Alliance (FFPA) and 5G-ACIA to discuss issues and measures to promote 5G/local 5G wireless adoption in factories, based on the MoU between the two organizations. We participated in the workshop as a supporting organization.

Participation in the Global 6G Development Conference

On November 13-14, 2024, the XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF) participated in the Global 6G Development Conference held in Shanghai, China. In the "Global 6G Progress" session, 6G promotion organizations (6G-IA, 6G Forum, XGMF, IMT-2030PG) from Europe, Korea, Japan, and China introduced the status of 6G development in their respective countries and regions. From XGMF, Mr. Seiji Nishioka, Secretary General, introduced XGMF's efforts and other activities.
