[Members Only] We are pleased to announce the release of the Dr. Hendrik Berndt’s ‘Beyond 5G Activities in Europe with additional flashlights on B5G US activities’. 16th July 2024

The Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB) requested Dr. Berndt to compile this report. Dr. Berndt resides in Germany and for over 10 years had worked at DOCOMO Communications Laboratories Europe GmbH as its CTO/CSO. He also has, among other distinguished positions throughout his career, overseen several EU R&D projects. Dr. Berndt is the elected Vice-chair of the Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF) for Europe, Middle East and Africa

We held the "International Workshop on the Promotion of Millimeter Waves for 5G" by the Millimeter Wave Promotion Ad Hoc at the "Wireless Technology Park (WTP) " at Tokyo Big Sight on Friday, May 31, 2024.

XG Mobile Promotion Forum held its inaugural general meeting.

XG Mobile Promotion Forum (English name: XG Mobile Promotion Forum, abbreviated as XGMF) held its inaugural meeting online on Friday, June 7, with 258 participants. In consideration of centralization of human resources and unification of international contact points, 5G Mobile Promotion Forum (5GMF) and Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium (B5GPC) will be merged to establish a new "XG Mobile Promotion Forum" on April 1, 2024. The forum has been discussing the organizational structure, rules and regulations, and other issues. The inaugural meeting was chaired by Mr. Nishioka, Director of ARIB. After the opening of the meeting, Mr. Takuro Kawakawa, Director-General of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, gave a speech as the guest of honor. Mr. Takuro Nishioka, Director General of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), gave a speech in which he expressed his hope that the XGMF would have a promotion system that would translate his enthusiasm into tangible results.

Summary Report on WTP2024's 5G/Local 5G Millimeter Wave Dissemination Event

The Wireless Technology Park (WTP) 2024 was held at Tokyo Big Sight for three days from Wednesday, May 29 to Friday, May 31. During the event, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF), for which the Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARAB) serves as the secretariat, jointly hosted an international workshop and exhibition to promote the spread of millimeter wave, organized by the XGMF Millimeter Wave Promotion Ad Hoc (Millimeter Wave AH).

[Members Only] Research Report "Hendrik Berndt's Survey of Beyond 5G R&D Trends in Europe and the United States" (March 2024) is now available.

The Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB) has asked Mr. Hendrik Berndt, who has worked as CTO/CSO of NTT DOCOMO Europe Research Laboratories for more than 10 years and has also held various important positions, including head of R&D projects in the EU, and is currently vice chairman of the Wireless World Research Forum (WRF) for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Mr. Hendrik Berndt is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Wireless World Research Forum for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Local 5G License Application Support Manual Version 3.02 is now available.

The December 2019 system revision of laws and regulations related to the Radio Law will enable the use of local 5G in a portion of the 28 GHz band (28.2-28.3 GHz), and in addition, the system was revised in December 2020 to extend the band (4.6-4.9 GHz and 28.3-29.1 GHz). This manual is prepared as a guide to assist those who wish to establish a local 5G system by supporting specific procedures when applying for a radio station license.

5GMF White Paper "Advanced 5G with Millimeter Wave Penetration, Version 3.0" is now available.

The 5th Generation Mobile Forum has released the 5GMF White Paper "Advancement of 5G by Millimeter Wave Deployment" prepared by the Ad Hoc for Promoting Millimeter Wave Deployment of the Planning Committee. As one of the main activities of the Ad Hoc Committee for Promoting Millimeter Wave Deployment, this white paper comprehensively describes information necessary for the deployment of millimeter wave in Japan and abroad, issues, technologies, use cases, solutions, and other necessary information for millimeter wave deployment. We hope that this white paper will be used as an aid in promoting millimeter wave deployment and building an ecosystem in Japan and abroad.

5GMF White Paper "Security in 5G Use Cases Version 1.1" (Japanese) is now available.

This white paper is a summary of the discussions conducted by the 5th Generation Mobile Promotion Forum Security Research and Study Committee. The committee extracted security issues for 5G use cases ((1) IoT, (2) Connected Vehicle, and (3) Fintech) based on 5G security standardization trends, mainly from the opinions of participating committee members. The 5GMF White Paper "Security in 5G Use Cases Version 1.0" was released in July 2020, and the results of research activities in each study item (standardization, IoT, Connected Vehicle, and Fintech) were then reflected in Version 1.1.
