The XG Mobile Promotion Forum held its 2025 Annual General Meeting on Friday, March 13 at the Meiji Kinenkan, with 153 participants in the hall and 68 online.
The general meeting was moderated by Mr. Hiroyuki Nishioka, Secretary General of XGMF (ARIB Board Member). I hope that the XGMF will redefine the value of telecommunications, and lead the way to the next generation.
The guest of honor, Mr. Hisashi Onaga, Director of the Radio Department, Telecommunications Infrastructure Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, then addressed the audience, saying, "Information and communications infrastructure is indispensable to society. I hope that the industry as a whole will be energized, and that human resource development will be promoted so that the younger generation will be able to play an active role in the industry. The meeting then moved on to the discussion of the agenda, and the co-chairperson, Professor Hiroyuki Morikawa of the University of Tokyo, was elected as the chairperson. The first agenda item, "Activity Report and Settlement of Accounts for FY2025 (tentative settlement until December 2025)," the second agenda item, "Activity Plan and Income and Expenditure Plan for FY2026," and the third agenda item, "Election of Officers for FY2026 (Reappointment of Co-Chairs Morikawa and Nakao and Appointment of Accounting Auditor (Hirokazu Sano, Softbank))" were explained. All of these proposals were discussed at the meeting and in front of the audience. There were no objections from the audience or members participating online to any of these proposals, and they were approved as proposed.

After the discussion of the agenda, seven XGMF projects made presentations on their activities and achievements to date.
The general meeting ended on a high note with a closing address by co-chair, Professor Akihiro Nakao of the University of Tokyo, who reported mainly on his findings at MWC2026, recently held in Barcelona.
After the general meeting, an opinion exchange session was held, where the guest of honor was Mr. Hironobu Yumoto, Director General of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. The opinion exchange meeting was attended by 162 participants and provided a valuable opportunity to deepen mutual friendship among the members through active exchanges.
