The IMT-2030(6G) Promotion Group is working to bring together the power of industry-academia collaboration in China to promote research on 6G communication technology and to develop international exchange and cooperation. The XGMF will contribute to the enhancement of the growth potential of the information and telecommunications industry by creating innovative technologies and new use cases that are not bound by common sense and convention, with Japan playing an international leadership role in the Beyond 5G/6G era. The two parties will maximize synergies and analyze the potential of applying Beyond 5G/6G to industrial telecommunications The activities listed in the MoU include mutual participation in meetings and events, joint marketing and promotional activities, and the exchange of information and publications.

The IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group was established in June 2019 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China. The organizational structure is based on the original IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group. Members consist primarily of China's major telecom operators, vendors, universities, and research institutions. It is a major platform for gathering the strength of China's industry-academia collaboration, promoting research on 6G communication technologies, and developing international exchanges and cooperation.
