Participation in 6G Global 2024 (Mobile KOREA 2024)

On October 28-30, 2024, 6G Global 2024 was held in Seoul, Korea, with the participation of the XG Mobile Promotion Forum.
6G Global 2024 was held as part of Mobile KOREA 2024* in Seoul, Korea, and featured in-depth sessions on 6G and panel discussions with industry leaders, with key stakeholders participating to discuss the latest innovations and developments shaping next-generation communications technology. Key stakeholders participated (*5G Vertical Summit / Regional Workshop was also held).
From Japan, Mr. Akihiro Nakao, co-chair of XGMF, introduced Japan and XGMF's activities, and Mr. Morio Toyoshima of NICT, Mr. Takehiro Nakamura of NTT Docomo, and Mr. Satoshi Konishi of KDDI spoke at the main sessions.

    As international collaboration progresses, countries are disseminating their unique technologies and initiatives and increasing their influence in international development activities. Noteworthy is the move to strengthen cooperation between industry, academia, and government and to promote R&D. In addition, there is a marked attitude toward developing new markets by clarifying growth factors, such as the incorporation of AI.

<Korea
6G plans to promote R&D and standardization of 5 sectors x 13 strategic technologies and conduct Pre-6G demonstration by 2026; to implement AI Native, AI semiconductors + AI solutions are fully implemented in base stations and core facilities.
SKT launched "AI Telco. Infra Evolution" to provide energy-efficient AI processing platforms such as AI-DC, drive next-generation applications through predictive analytics and communication optimization, and emphasize new business models and business development through AI-based infrastructure advancement.

<China
6G is positioned as a fundamental technology for realizing an advanced intelligent society, and 6G R&D is being promoted centered on IMT-2030 (6G). In particular, focusing on AI x NW, conduct demonstrations of AI-based modulation and channel estimation, etc. in 2023, and accelerate research and verification of AI model generalization performance and real-time inference in 2024, with the aim of reaching an industry-wide consensus on model selection, data collection, and inference architecture.
Huawei proposed the concept of AI for Network (AI4NET) for customized optimization and automatic operation and management, including the development of a prototype of integrated communication and high-precision sensing technology (ISAC-THz) utilizing the THz bandwidth.

<Europe
Promoting international partner collaboration in 6G development and standardization, including in non-telecom areas; SNS JU, a public-private partnership program between EU and 6G IA, with 35 PJs starting in 2023 and 16 additional PJs in 2024 (1.3€ public funding). As key challenges, the program emphasizes the importance of AI integration, wireless signal processing, cloud edge computing, and device development such as micro-components.

<United States
The 6G vision focuses primarily on accelerating commercialization and developing new use cases across industries. The goal is to establish fundamental technologies that will accelerate implementation of verticals such as agriculture and manufacturing, and cross-industry innovation through improved network real-time performance and efficiency.
