Global 5G Events

The 11th Global 5G Event was held on August 29-30, 2024 at Airtel's Network Operations Center (NOC) in Manesar, Gurgaon, India.

The Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI), in collaboration with six of the world's leading 5G/6G organizations, including 5G Americas, 6G Brasil in Brazil, IMT-2020 (5G) PG in China, 6G-IA in the European Union, 6G Forum, and XGMF of Japan, organized this event with the theme "Opening the Door to the Future: Convergence of AI, Cloud, and Networks in Telecommunications".

The event served as a platform for experts from Brazil, China, Europe, Japan, Korea, the United States, and India to discuss topics such as current AI and cloud implementation models in 5G networks, use cases for multi-access edge computing with AI, regional The event served as a Four technical sessions covered experiences with 5G deployments and the path to 6G using AI and the cloud. This provided a deeper understanding of regional perspectives on the potential opportunities, challenges, standardization, and deployment strategies for AI and cloud in 5G and 6G.

The next 12th Global 5G event will be hosted by 5G Americas and will take place May 21-22, 2025 in Dallas, Texas, USA.

Below are comments from Global 5G Event MoU signatories.

Mr. N Mohanram, Secretary General, TSDSI:
We are proud to have successfully hosted the 11th Global 5G Event at the Airtel NOC in Manesar, Gurugram. This gathering of global leaders underscored the critical importance of collaboration in advancing 5G and paving the way for 6G. Discussions around AI, cloud, and next-generation networks will undoubtedly shape the future of telecommunications, including services that leverage AI-enabled networks. We look forward to continued partnership and innovation as we work together to unlock the potential of new technologies.

Viet Nguyen, Vice President of PR and Technology, 5G America:
As we move to the 5G advance and look ahead to 6G, international collaboration is more important than ever: the challenges and opportunities presented by AI and machine learning are not limited to national borders. By working together across regions, we can jointly navigate these complexities, drive innovation, and ensure that our networks evolve to meet future demands. Events such as this embody the power of partnership, where shared knowledge and perspectives accelerate the deployment of innovative technologies and strengthen the global telecommunications ecosystem.

6G Brazil Mr. Luciano Mendes:
As 5G networks continue to grow and evolve, we see AI and cloud computing as key technologies to support new applications and drive adoption in several markets. 5G is clearly a stepping stone to more complex and integrated networks 5G is becoming a stepping stone to more complex and integrated networks. Understanding the challenges common to all regions while collaboratively proposing new technologies to support the requirements of new application scenarios, with AI and distributed processing at the core, 6G networks, is an important outcome of this global 5G event.

Mr. Zhiqin Wang, Chairman of IMT-2020 (5G) PG:
Congratulations on the success of the 11th Global 5G Event. This event is a very important platform for international cooperation in 5G development and 6G research. It provides a deep insight into the challenges and opportunities we face, especially in the transition from AI integration to AI native across the mobile ecosystem.

Mr. Colin Wilcock, Chairman of the 6G-IA Board of Directors:
The 11th Global 5G Event was an excellent opportunity to understand the international state of 5G development and 6G research. In addition, we gained unique insights into India's telecom ecosystem and future plans.

Mr. Akihiro Nakao, Co-President of XGMF (Japan):
Global 5G events provide an excellent platform for knowledge sharing across regions and industries, and as 5G technology continues to evolve and 6G development advances, collaboration becomes even more important. Japan's approach is to explore innovative business models and new use cases for further development of 5G/local 5G, while also considering NTNs and new radio frequency waves to pave the way for 6G networks. We look forward to establishing further partnerships that will accelerate innovation and enhance telecom system capabilities worldwide.

Mr. KyungHi Chang, 6G Forum Executive Committee Chair:
AI and cloud technologies were at the forefront of the 11th Global 5G event in India, highlighting the important role of international collaboration in the evolution from 5G to 6G. Discussions included both the challenges and exciting possibilities that lie ahead for next-generation networks. Going forward, the focus will be on scalable AI native systems and new wireless technologies to deepen partnerships and drive 6G innovation. The wine was an unexpected harvest.
